Linkedin General Guidelines To Open A Profile
There are several general stages to get you started by establishing your own professional profile. By connecting with others through inviting and sharing your profile to join you or requesting for references from former employers or employees.
Once you completed most of the general information, you will soon get to the exciting part by adding Apps like your WordPress blog, Reading list by Amazon and more. Also you’re able to utilize additional links to share with others, like your twitter, facebook or website to make it easier for others to know more about you and connect.
This is important, make sure to customize your Linkedin profile url to make it easier for others to find you. Just click on the customize link and place a name in the set address box so it makes it simple to find or by referring your profile url. See the example below.

Another helpful category is the advance job search to find the type of job, location and job functions available. Employers can list job and search for potential candidates. Now just because this service is free, it has its limited use, plus you are able to upgrade for a fee. Which applies to posting for a job and Linkedin specify a list of what it services covers with the free plan and the upgraded plan. I’m pleased with the free feature and it fulfills most of my usage for this site.
Keep in mind this social networking site is visited by many serious professionals looking, offering, creating positions, careers and entrepreneurial business-related opportunities.

Aloha Lani!
I love your post! Thank you for showing a lot of detail and the hyperlinks to the articles with the stats and graphs are awesome!! I didn’t know that LinkedIn had jumped into the #2 spot! Wow, that is significant.
I really love screenshot videos when learning new technical things. I love to stop the video, go to the site in the video, and follow along as you are teaching. It’s the most effective way to “cause the student to learn”.
And I love the example in your video… LOL! Thank you so much for using us as an example. It’s so interesting because I was just telling my husband how you and I have connected through social media. It’s so cool to connect with like-minded friends who we haven’t “physically” met yet.
You are incredible and you have such a “gift” in understanding all of this “new language” of social media. Thank you for always being willing to share with those of us who are not as “akamai” at it.
Much love & aloha,
Kellie
@Kelly, love your sweetness on my post here and glad I can be of assistance. Gosh I haven’t heard nor seen that word much, “Akamai” it sure make it seem closer to knowing wonderful folks online. Yeah, I figure it all came in good timing to illustrate you folks in my video clip and dang you guys worked well with it. Lol Mahalo, Lani
Hey sweetie,
You miss Hawaii now? Maybe you will visit me someday and we will get to meet. You are truly “da bes” and I feel very connected to your soul.
Love you Lani

Hi Lani: I love LinkedIn. I recently wrote a 2-part article for Peter Bowerman’s (Well Fed Writer) where I mentioned 60% of my clients started in one form or another at LinkedIn. It does have a different etiquette than other platforms and the basics make the difference. This post provides that-well done!
Thanks for sharing it.
@Cathy, glad to have you come by and leave me a sweet input. I agree it is a specific type of people with professional backgrounds and the approach is given on this business related site. Although if you take the approach the way it should be, most will welcome you on this networking site. Mahalo, Lani
To be honest, I never paid much attention to linkedin, and I thought it was much too hyped up. But seeing its current popularity and especially the traffic ranks… maybe it’s time to give it a second thought!
